These assessments are based on the research of Marie Clay. Too often students reach 3rd grade and do not have a solid literacy foundation. Students may not be able to identify all letters and their sounds, perhaps they are not clear on how letters impact one another when placed together in a word or even more common, are lacking in common sight word recognition.
These assessments are designed so that the same sheet may be used for the same student all year long. With a location for each date of assessment and the student’s score teachers are able to easily recognize areas of strength and weakness for students and identify areas of growth, as well.
